years since I started Haiku
Friday on a whim
I’m feeling run down
thinking I need a break from
writing weekly ‘ku’s
It doesn’t have to
end, though – any volunteers
want to take over?
I have loved doing Haiku Friday from the beginning. It’s been a way to flex my creative muscles and try something different. But lately it’s become a chore, and the last thing I want is for it to be a chore. It’s not fair to those of you who enjoy playing along each week.
So I need a break. Not sure how long, but possibly a long break. (Note: I’m still blogging, just not in haiku form.) I’m happy to pass the duties off to someone else if they really want the responsibility. If you do, let me know – if more than one person wants it, I’ll figure out some way to pick a host.
Thank you so much to everyone who has participated in Haiku Friday. You’re all brilliant and talented poets and I’m grateful that you took part in my little weekly meme.
To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:
1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.
2. Sign the Mister Linky below with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your main blog URL). DON’T sign unless you have a haiku this week. If you need help with this, please let me know.
3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button at the top.
REMEMBER: Do not post your link unless you have a haiku this week! I will delete any links without haiku!
whew! i know the feeling …
i’d be willing to host if you want to give it up for awhile.
I could too but I am araid I might not be reliable enough to put it up on time each week. I guess you auto-post? Hmm . . .
But it is so much fun!
Oh…I love your Friday Haiku! I can help hosting too…it need not be one person all the time. 🙂
Mariposa’s Haiku
I don’t have the spare time to devote to hosting, but I want you to know that you’ve added a dimension to my blogging that makes me look forward to Fridays in an entirely different light than usual. Whatever happens to Haiku Friday, thanks for giving us all the opportunity to be creative.

I wish I could offer my services too because I write haikus to all my photos! But I have so many commitments now that I feel I would be in overload! I don’t want to be unreliable!
Looks like you have plenty of volunteers, but I’d be willing to guest host for a while for you.
Happy to host! And thank you for making a go of it for so long! You’ve been an excellent resource and it is a great deal of fun!!

I was gonna volunteer – but thankfully, there’s a whole bunch of folks who have beaten me to it. But you can add me in the mix – if you need me.
i totally understand and want to thank you for hosting as long as you have–it’s been such a creative outlet for me. I’d be will to host or cohost, too.
I understand too… I’ve had trouble even posting haikus for a couple months now. That said, though, I also would take a turn. Maybe we divvy up by a a month or two? Or hash out the timing on a Yahoo forum? Which I am too hot to start up today but would early next week…
I’m visiting late today and am glad to see so many volunteers willing to ‘host’ Haiku Friday. Like Gemma, I write Haiku in just about every post on each of my blogs no matter what the day … but I enjoy the Friday ‘kus and would hate to see the tradition end. I guess I’d be willing to help ‘host’ too though I know NOTHING about setting up Mr. Linky. As Mariposa said … it’s doesn’t HAVE to be the same person all the time. The Fun Monday crowd passes the duty around weekly. I’ve just posted Haiku at Small Reflections and posted Haiku Sky Watch Friday as usual at Happily Retired Gal earlier.
Hugs and blessings,
You deserve a break!
ha! I’m finally back to blogging myself and went looking for today’s haiku link from you – ooops you stopped that months ago. I am clearly not up to the task but i do hope someone took it on. I’ve loved your blog and the kus and getting to know our fellow ku-artists!
cheers
I took the summer off from blog reading and haikus and came back wondering where they were! Is someone else guest hosting already? I’d be happy to do it as well (at least now that my kids are back in school!)
