would say this, but I think I’m
liking exercise
Years of groaning at
silly aerobics workouts
have now been replaced
The change? Finding a
group for motivation and
the right exercise
Running hurts my knees
And most videos have a
way too perky gal
Jillian Michaels
is my new hero – she can
kick my ass anytime
I’ve always hated exercise. The sweat, the ache, the huffing and puffing, and did I mention the sweat? Yuck. Add silly workout instructors to the mix, or boring machines where you walk or pedal to nowhere, and I’d rather exercise my fingers on my computer keyboard than even think about marching in place or Jazzercise.
But I finally think I’m getting the hang of this. Blond, perky fitness models do nothing to inspire me, and weight lifting is far more interesting to me than stepping up and down on a step bench to nowhere. I need a trainer who is no nonsense. I also must have other people to share the ordeal with.
Aaron has been working out with me this month, and while I thought it would be awkward, it’s actually very motivating to encourage each other to keep going. I’m also loving the support of the Shredheads group and my new Hot by BlogHer team.
In three weeks, I’ve lost weight, improved my cardio endurance, and I can see new muscle developing. And for once I feel that my body and I are working in unison. Here’s hoping this new habit sticks.
To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:
1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.
2. Sign the Mister Linky below with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your main blog URL). DON’T sign unless you have a haiku this week. If you need help with this, please let me know.
3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button at the top.
REMEMBER: Do not post your link unless you have a haiku this week! I will delete any links without haiku!
That’s awesome Christina! I wish my husband and I could get in a routine like that. I hope you can keep it up. Make sure you give us updates every now and then on Haiku Friday!
I really need to adopt your workout attitude! Once upon a time, I knew how beneficial it was. I would love to get back to that.
Yahooo! It’s such a good for you feeling, isn’t it? Glad that you are feelin’ it and feelin’ good about it!
Sometimes getting your butt kicked working out is amazing. I really need to get back into my routine. I used to work out at Curves for Women and I loved it!
Best of luck to you with your new found routine!
Congratulations on liking exercise. I don’t think I will ever like it, but I make myself do it. The alternative is putting on way too much middle-aged weight!
TGIF – w00t! 🙂

you know i’m trying the shred. but…here is my only complaint WHY DOES JILLIAN NEVER ACTUALLY WORK OUT? Am I the only one who has noticed she doesn’t do anything but talk and talk and talk and omg if you don’t stop talking i’m going to shove this hand wait in your mouth for the love of god.
ahem.
i’m better now. anyway. i just wished she worked out with us
Good for YOU ;–)
It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed regular exercise, but one of these days’ I’d like to get back into a pleasurable exercise routine too. Once again, I’ve published Haiku on all three blogs.
Hugs and blessings,
I love the sweat and excercise, I just don’t like leaving the house. It’s such a chore to load up the kids that I make excuses to stay home. Good for you for doing it!
that’s so great–i’ve heard others blog about shredheads–i’ll have to check it out!
I love working out. It however, hates me.
Good luck. It’s nice to find something that makes you feel good…physically and mentally!
I need a swift kick in the butt to get back in the gym. maybe when all the stress wears off!
Dang, there are so many of you converts out there, I’m afraid I’ll be next. Stepford Shredders!
Lovely series.
Awesome! I should try it…
Rock on! That’s fabulous.
I’ve just started climbing out of my own black hole and back into healthy living. Here’s hoping the black hole doesn’t beckon me back quickly. 😉
Go you! I need to get back in the grove of things. I’m so excited for you that you’re starting to like it.
that totally rocks! YOU CAN DO IT!
