Haiku Friday: Hair Dreams or Nightmares

“Her hair is gorgeous!”
Everyone marvels at my
daughter’s curly locks

I often wished for
curly hair like my daughter’s
Until I combed hers

The screaming, the tears
the constant tangles make me
happy for my waves.

To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:

1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.

2. Sign the Mister Linky below or at Jennifer’s blog with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). DON’T sign unless you have a haiku this week. If you need help with this, contact Jennifer or myself.

3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button at the top.

REMEMBER: Do not post your link unless you have a haiku this week! We will delete any links without haiku!

  1. Before I read your ‘ku, my first thought was one of pity for her, as I have hair like that. It’s like an Italian car: very pretty but difficult to maintain.

  2. Ahh, poor thing.

My daughter’s hair is straight as a board and thin, just like mine. Yet, when I come near her with a brush and ponytail holder, she screams like a banshee.

    Tender head.

  3. That hair is BEAUTIFUL – but I’m so glad I’m not the one who has to brush it.

  4. She does have beautiful hair. I bet someday she’ll want to straighten it and then change her mind again. I wish I had hair like hers!!

  5. Still, so very pretty, though!

  6. Such beautiful locks! I always wanted curly hair, but I was given pin straight hair that even a perm can’t give body to.

    The grass is always greener.

  7. WHY are we as women never happy with our hair? No matter what, we want what we don’t have.

  8. Ooo. But they are so pretty!!

  9. Aww bless! I bet when she’s older she’ll try to straighten them all the time! πŸ˜‰

  10. ah, those curls… I have a friend who still uses a mess of leave in conditioner (Infusium) to comb through her hair.

I’m with Kathryn. I love the ringlet. So adorable.

  12. I forgot about the hair theme and wrote about something else … but I did write my haiku about a hair-raising experience, does that count? Lol.

My son inherited my straight hair, not his dad’s waves. I wouldn’t have known what to do with curls or waves anyway!

Man, My daughter’s hair is straight and I still get yelled at…I can’t imagine curls…

You daughter’s hair is gorgeous though.

  14. Her hair is beautiful! Happy Friday!

  15. I hear ya! The pain, the tears, the pleas every single morning.

Only 3 years old and my daughter is already dreaming of somehow switching her curls for my straight locks.

  16. I love her hair…beauty rarly comes easy…so just train her on that! πŸ˜‰

    Happy Friday!

  17. Such nice curls. I think all kids will complain about getting their hair combed — mine is totally straight and fine, and I always remember it being painful.

    Still so pretty though!
My cousin has hair like that, we found that leave in conditioner spray (not for kids, use the adult version) works well.

    Good luck!

Those curls are beautiful. But the grass is always greener, right?

  20. She’s adorable!
I admit I’ve wished for such
    lovely curls too ;–)
    Hugs and blessings,

  21. Beautiful Curls!!!

  22. I’m enjoying ‘hairku’ Friday!
    We definately have curly hair!
    Check it out!

  23. My girls both have curly hair. You may have tried this, but I wanted to tell you what works for us. I use a spray-in conditioner by Aussie–and I use a LOT before I ever attempt to brush/comb it out. Every single time. It really works with their hair–no more tears/no more tangles.

  24. Beautiful, perfect curls!

  25. me and my girls have curly hair….my recomendation is NO SHAMPOO! Seriously…it’s not needed. Wash your daughter’s hair with conditioner–Suave Naturals Coconut is my fav. I promise, her hair will get clean and it’s easy to comb through while wet. And we NEVER comb dry hair!

  26. She’s a cutie pie, for sure. πŸ™‚

  27. nope, sorry. still jealous.

  28. ABSOLUTELY gorgeous, though.

    Tagging you…

  29. I can totally relate. My youngest has red curly hair that is always in knots.

  30. So, so cute! Loved your post.

One time, when I was a kid, I got a really nasty snarl, and my grandmother CUT IT OUT OF MY HAIR. I had a big nasty short spot on the back of my head. My mother was pissed. I never did like my mom brushing my hair, and it still gives me trouble, but I’d like to think I’ve grown to love it.
