I kinda resented having a birthday one day apart from my mom growing up. Our family always celebrated our birthdays together, meaning I never had my own party. I didn’t even have my own cake – it was always a shared cake. (I liked chocolate, and she preferred white, so it was usually half-white, half-chocolate.)
Now that I’m older, I prefer a shared party. We’re all so busy now, and a shared party makes it easier to coordinate schedules. And since I married a man who has a birthday 9 days before mine, we usually lump his celebration in with ours.

Happy birthday to you and your Mom. I have no doubt my 3 children will feel the same resentment. The twins obviously share a birthday, but my oldest son was born about two weeks prior in the same month.

I would have enjoyed a double party I think. My mom’s birthday was 2 weeks from mine but we barely even celebrated hers, that I know of, let alone have a joint party. I wish my mom was close enough (geographically) to take her out for a dual birthday celebration!
We have a lot of summer birthdays too – hubby’s and mine were a day apart last week, and next month Maggie’s is one week before her Grandma’s (my mom’s).

Our family is so huge and close that we just started doing birthday months. We all cook something, bring it and usually my aunt makes a cake.
