suggesting a haiku theme –
Are you interested?
Once a month or so
we could give a topic for
you to write about
If this sounds crazy
Feel free to say so. We won’t
be offended, ‘K?
I have no idea if this is something that Haiku Friday participants might be interested in. Jennifer and I have discussed the idea of throwing a theme out every few weeks to provide a little more of a challenge for our experienced haiku’ers. It would be a topic wide enough to be open to interpretation however your creative minds see fit, of course.
Participation in the theme would not be required (you could still do a non-theme haiku that week), but it might be fun to see how others interpret the topic compared to you.
Anyone interested in this? Thoughts? Ideas? Rotten tomatoes?
To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:
1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.
2. Sign the Mister Linky below or at Jennifer’s blog with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). DON’T sign unless you have a haiku this week. If you need help with this, contact Jennifer or myself.
3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button at the top.
REMEMBER: Do not post your link unless you have a haiku this week! We will delete any links without haiku!
I’m good with the topic. There are times where I would like the prompt. 🙂
As an aside…today’s word verificiation: kapow!
i think topics would be fun!
I think it’s a great idea because sometimes people are at a loss about what to blog about. You two should definitely do it, especially if it’s optional.
I think a topic could be fun, too!
I like the idea of a topic, especially if it’s optional. Sometimes a topic can help to think beyond our typical themes to be more creative. If it’s optional, then, well, it’s optional, and that’s great, too 🙂
topics can be quite helpful if inspiration is playing hide-and-seek. (me? not me, no never, nuh-uh. no no no)
That is actually a great idea. I’m always up for a challenge.
I think it’s a lovely idea. 🙂
i think topics is a fine idea.
How about just a word? A single word (like cotton, or ephemeral, or stinker) can provide such interesting inspiration and the results can be so wildly different.
I know I don’t actually participate in Haiku Friday but I enjoy reading…
Ooh, you could give three seemingly unrelated words and people would have to incorporate all three into their haikus.
Can you tell I’m an English teacher?
I think we could incorporate Julie @ letter9’s ideas also!
Yes please! Otherwise I just hash together random things we’ve been up to!
Yes, I like the idea of a theme too.
Could be fun, and left optional… everyone should be happy 🙂
Please GIVE US A TOPIC! It would be such a help!
I think it’s a greta idea, but I’m not sure I’ll always be able to come up with something cool. Oh no, fear of being uncool creeping in on me. . . EEK!
Oh, wait. No I still think it’s a good idea.
Happy Friday!
At first I thought “Oh no!” because I typically write mine about whatever is going on at that very moment but then I read more and I think that would be a good idea every once in a while. I like the challenge part especially plus it would be fun to see how different people interpret the theme.
I would love to have an idea to write about!
I’d be in for a theme.
I’m game! 🙂
Sure! That could be fun 🙂
A theme sounds like fun!!!
That sounds like a great idea, especially since we can still opt to do our own thing, too. 🙂
I’d be up for it.
Looks like most everyone is up for the idea … and I guess I’d give it a go as well; however since I post on both of my blogs, perhaps one could be open ended w/o a theme right?
Hugs and blessings,
I think a theme would be really cool. I couldn’t think of what I wanted to write about last week…
