Haiku Friday: Blogger Baby Boom

2007
was only the start of a
blogging baby boom

Lots of new preggos
Is it catching? Then pass me
my birth control, please.

Apparently 2008 is the year of the baby here in the blog world. Is it a virus, spreading blog to blog? Is it contagious? With each new pregnancy announcement, I start to sweat a little, wondering if a second form of birth control should be added to the regimen. Can’t be too careful, right? I mean, my two girls are adorable, but the thought of a third one right now makes me nauseous.

So to all of you pregnant bloggers out there – I love you, I’m excited for you, and I will keep reading (and I want you to come visit me, too), but keep your maternity cooties to yourself, OK?

To play along for Haiku Friday, follow these steps:

1. Write your own haiku on your blog. You can do one or many, all following a theme or just random. What’s a haiku, you ask? Click here.

2. Sign the Mister Linky below or at Jennifer’s blog with your name and the link to your haiku post (the specific post URL, not your generic blog URL). If you need help with this, contact Jennifer or myself.

3. Pick up a Haiku Friday button to display on the post or in your sidebar by clicking the button above.

  7. Sarcastic Mom (aka Lotus) says

Haha! Maternity cooties! I’m actually hoping to catch those cooties sometime this year myself. 😉

We only have one, though, so we’re interested in getting our sibling on. 😀

  8. I’m with you, pass me my birth control please! There must be somethng going around.

  9. Oh, hell! Pass that birth control my way too!

  10. hehehhe… maternity cooties. 🙂 Pass me some in about 4 months! Maybe even 2! Yikes.

  11. Pass those cooties this way please. We want to get preggo this year too. 🙂

  12. Hmmm … reminds me of one year in a newly opened school site that we ended up with 11 pregnancies the first year and everyone avoided the drinking fountain indefinitely! Methinks these things come in waves.
    Hugs and blessings,

  13. The pregnant blogger phenomenon is getting to me, too. I JUST had a baby (2 months ago!) and we’re supposed to be done. But #1 is getting older and more self-sufficient, and #2 is a fairly easy baby and all of these moms of 3 and preggos are giving me that itch. And logically, I don’t want it. My hormones just aren’t cooperating. Pass me a hit of that BC when you’re through.

  14. Stay away!!!
    No pregos here!!
    That’s such a cute ‘ku!

  15. I make it a policy to never ever ever drink the water. 🙂

  16. Am particularly jazzed this week with my own personal bitter valentines day haiku- check it out.

  17. HA!

Josh goes for his vasectomy next month. And no, I’m not ready to talk about it.

  18. I know, it’s been crazy! and it’s kind of scaring me….I’m tempted to stop drinking the water! 🙂

(and holy smokes, I’m 36th on the haiku list at 7:15am! that’s crazy too! a busload of (some) pregnant poets…)

  19. My first one….

  20. I love maternity cooties! I don’t want them either. I’ll give you a virtual cootie shot.

  21. I have no idea why it keeps saying I’m new, I’ve been doing this for 6+ weeks. (Lost count).

I need to avoid the maternity cooties too. Forget that for a laugh! No way.

  22. I want a baby. 🙁

  23. You know, I could be blaming YOU for my maternity cooties 😉

  24. Mrs. Chicken says

Seriously! Isn’t it so weird?? I promise to keep my distance. Perhaps you should go for that sex detox thing everyone is reviewing! 🙂

  25. Chicky Chicky Baby says

I promise not to breath on you.

  26. Dana J. Tuszke says

I’d give anything for those cooties. We’ve been trying for six months. Maybe longer, I’ve lost track with each disappointing negative test.

I’m trying not to lose the faith. It’s really hard, though.

So that’s why I’m focusing on “Hot by BlogHer!” The last time I paid attention to losing weight, I lost 40 pounds and got pregnant.

    It could work!

  27. I admire all you new-mommish ladies who have time to blog. I have time (relatively speaking; guess I could be getting more done. :P) only because my babies are pretty much grown up now.

  28. Jennifer, Le Binky Bitch says

    Maternity cooties!!! Ha!

  29. Great Haikus! Great Blogs! Thanks Ladies!

  30. Amy [Taste Like Crazy] says

Ah, come on! Everyone’s doing it. 😉

[Delete my other comment, would ya?]

  31. Hee hee, an appropriate topic for my first Haiku Friday….

  32. Yeah, no more babies for us. We’re done. Pull the plug.

I know I should do something… permanent, but… that’s going to be something I have to work up to.

  33. I didn’t realize we had so many pregos out there! I keep thinking this will be the year we starting trying for #2, but now I’m starting to chicken out!

  34. When these kids grow up, will they be known as the bloggeration?

  35. I’d consider it GREAT NEWS! Hahahaha….Nothing here yet, but I wouldn’t mind catching the bug 😉
