I used to think Cordy was quite the eater. I had no idea that my second daughter would be the real foodie. She can’t get enough of it, and spends most of the day wanting only to eat, eat, eat.
I’d call her our little food critic, but that title doesn’t exactly fit. Her report so far:
Breastmilk: Tasty, although quickly becoming passé
Oatmeal: Yum! Mixed with some of that milk is best.
Sweet potatoes: Yum! And the orange stains left behind when I spit up give mommy a headache.
Carrots: Yum! Tastes great, and is another great orange color for staining my clothes.
Apples: Yum! Great to eat cold when teething pain strikes. More, please!
Squash: Yum! Like sweet potatoes, only not quite as orange. Not as much stain power as the other veggies, but still delicious.
Bananas: Yum! What’s next?
See? If she was a critic, everyone would want her at their restaurants, and every dish would get a glowing review.
And she’s not content with the selection provided so far. She also eyes anything I eat, trying to swipe a bite and occasionally propelling herself forward on my lap to get her gums around my sandwich.
Sometimes I’m a little bothered that she’s no longer as interested in breastmilk, like it’s so three months and she’s nearly six months now. Of course, less nursing means fewer attempts at a nipplectomy from her teeth, so I guess there are upsides.
And she certainly doesn’t appear to be a starving baby.
PS – Look for a new review and a fun giveaway coming soon (before Thanksgiving) at Mommy’s Must Haves. Everyone loves free stuff right around the holidays, right?
Ha ha ha ha ha! Omigosh, how cute. I love that face she’s making. That is so great that she’s all over the solid foods!
My sister’s daughters both stopped breastfeeding before they were a year old and I thought Sweet Pea was going to do the same thing, because the solid food was more interesting. With Sweet Pea I freaked a little and cut back on the solid food for a week (this was at 9 months) and she was like, “oh yeah, breast milk – that stuff rocks – guess I won’t write it off just yet” but I hear that some of them just wean earlier! My sister was bummed that she didn’t know at the time she could have done something to keep her girls from weaning so early. I don’t know what she would have done but she said that La Leche League had suggestions that she found out about later.
They just get so excited for those solids, don’t they? And second children are just amazing eaters! (At least, as a second child, that’s the excuse I like to use.)
Evan stole the spoon out of my cereal this morning. I think it’s a sign. Time to go buy some baby food. : )
And give that girl some nachos already.
I laughed at the part about orange stains on clothing. I remember going through Dawson’s old baby clothes and wondering what the orange stains were from. Now I remember.
All you have to do is post a picture of your gorgeous child, and I melt. Give the kid some nachos, for God’s sake! How can you deny that doll?
That picture is adorable! I love it! She is beautiful! We still got no teeth! Maybe soon – I will tell you that even though I liked Breast Feeding I am happy that it is over befroe the teeth!
She is a cutie pie with her little round face. She does look quite content.
She is a dollbaby! I love her face. My secondchild is this way about solids. He hasnt met one he doesnt like and peas are his favorite.
My Davey is my foodie, for sure. He loves guacamole (not spicy, but with some zest), steel cut oatmeal, yogurt mixed with anything, and the list. goes. on. It’s awesome that your sweetie loves her food.
She’s precious, too!!
She’s sooo cute!
I provide daycare for my cousin’s daughter once a week and she is the same way….the tiniest little thing 8 months old and only 13 pounds, but man oh man can she pack it in!
Sometimes I have to cut her off out of plain fear she may explode!!
