Aaron and I like to watch TV, but our regular habit comes and goes. There was a time when we had something we just had to watch every night, but then slowly we lost interest in some shows, and others were canceled. For awhile there were only one or two shows we were really that interested in, and even then, if we missed a week, it wasn’t that big a deal.
But now. Now the sweet lure of fall premiere week has pulled us back in, and as we set our season pass choices in Tivo, we realize just how good TV is right now.
Heroes
Bones
House
Bionic Woman (saw the first episode online – it has potential)
Ghost Hunters
Smallville
Doctor Who (finishing up the season currently)
Torchwood
It’s like Christmas around here. Throw in Grey’s Anatomy (which we like, but can’t commit to), and we have New Year’s, too. I cringe when I look at that list and see just how much TV we’re watching, but I honestly can’t cut any of it out. They’re all excellent shows.
You can also tell from my list just what geeks we are. It’s all sci-fi/fantasy/techie-mystery/medical. Not a housewife drama in sight. After being with the kids all day, I enjoy relaxing to a nice fantasy world once they’re in bed. Prime time is mommy and daddy time.
Is anyone else just as excited by all of the premieres this week? If so, what shows are you looking forward to?
(clearing throat here)
I love that the new season is beginning! Here’s my list:
Desp Housewives
Extreme Home Makeover
Medium (LOVE this show!)
E.R.
Brothers and Sisters
Lost
Notes from the Underbelly (meh, funnyish)
And I can’t wait to peruse the lists tonight and see what I can start to record. LOVE DVR. What would life be without it? Well, it would be the same but without the shows I like…
i just looooooove that tivo and dvr are now considered verbs! cuz yeah, i want to dvr the following:
1) house (ohhhh house! i would follow you to the ends of the earth!)
2) grey’s anatomy (mcdreamy. ’nuff said)
3) desperate housewives
also like but not addicted to any csi but miami (david caruso… ew), cold case and without a trace. hmmm. is there a pattern there?
If you are into Torchwood you may also like MI-5 and Eureka! 🙂 We have issues because our cable box only records two shows at a time and Tuesday nights there are 3 that we watch at the same time! UGH! Your list is pretty much the same as ours. Throw is Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares! 🙂
I have not seen any of the shows you listed. My favorite is The Office. I also enjoy Til Death, Cold Case…That’s really about it. I watch plenty of TV, but usually either news or (cringe) soaps.
I love, love, love Heroes, The Office, Project Runway (coming back in November!), and House. I think we’re going to add Chuck and Bionic Woman to the lineup, and of course Ken Burns’ The War is a must-watch this week. That’s a LOT of TV for two people who work and have a newborn. I love my shows, though, and can’t imagine cutting any of them out. Thank goodness for TiVo!
I am VERY excited that the new season has started. I watch way too much tv. My favs are:
Desperate Housewives
Brothers & Sisters
Dancing w/ the Stars
Rules of Engagement
Grey’s Anatomy
ER
New shows I am looking forward to:
Cane
Dirty Sexy Money
Life
And some vampire show that’s on Friday nights.
Thank goodness for the DVR!!!!!!
I’ve been working my way through the second season of Grey’s Anatomy on DVD, but now that the fall shows are on, I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to watch it.
My list is similar to yours: Heroes, House, Bionic Woman (haven’t seen it yet, but your thumbs-up is duly noted), and Survivor. Once Lost and Battlestar come back, I’ll be all set.
I’ve got the DVR that record two shows at once… and even that is not enough.
Last night, I wanted to record Heroes and Journeyman on NBC, Old Christine and Two and a Half Men on CBS, all while I was watching Monday Night Football.
Nope. Huh-uh. Couldn’t do it. Could only watch one and record another. I need a 2nd DVR.
I’m afraid to even start listing. We tape Heroes, Bones, and House. CSI is tivo’d and Grey’s is watched (since they’re on at the same time). I just added Pushing Daisies and Moonlight and we’re going to at least watch the first episode of Private Practice. And we’re just waiting for Lost… forever waiting.
Heroes, Doctor Who and Torchwood… can’t wait until Battlestar Gallactica comes back, but I think that’s not until January, right? But my bro-in-law said there are going to be some little three-minute bits here and there, and I think a movie before the next season starts? And when Lost comes back, we’ll watch that too.
I’ve still got some episodes of Painkiller Jane to catch up on, but I think that season just ended, and my favorite murder mystery shows just ended for the season too: Monk and Psych.
I’m with you. My butt won’t be leaving the couch until after sweeps week in November when they start running reruns again.
I love House. Love, love, love it. I want to do nasty, dirty things to Hugh Laurie.
*ahem*
My list isn’t quite as big, but it’s still a lot of TV.
House
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (because I do love me some Vincent D’Onofrio)
Psych
Top Chef
Project Runway
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (another yummy man)
The British version of anything Gordon Ramsay does
And I NetFlix Weeds.
I’m always the worst tv junkie this time of year.. my dvr is full of
CSI Miami, and NY
Law and Order SVU (new season starts tonight!!)
Law and Order Criminal Intent
I’m excited about Jimmy Smits new series Cane
and.. err..
I’m an Inuyasha fan.. yes.. I am indeed 5 again.
I killed HBO last year when they canceled Deadwood’s 4th season. I am so so tired of getting into their shows only for them to stop making them one season away from it being finished. So I won’t be seeing any of their new stuff, which is better for my blood pressure in the long run.
I’m totally excited!
Here’s my list:
How I Met Your Mother
Rules of Engagement
Grey’s Anatomy
Private Practice (maybe…I don’t know about this one)
Til Death
Back to You
Law and Order SVU
The Bachelor (I know, I’m a dork)
Hmm my list is a lot more low brow.
House (is at the top though)
then the slew of reality shows
Survivor (it’s slipping in my opinion though, and yet I will always watch it!)
America’s Next Top Model (I’m so glad I like icecream!)
Beauty and The Geek. (I fancy myself as a geeky beauty, or a beautious geek)
Iron Chef
Any VH1 dating show like Flavor of Love or I Love New York. Oh such lovely train wrecks.
Non-reality but not sitcoms
Colbert Report
The Daily Show
Mind of Mencia
The Sarah Silverman Show
On my must see list:
Heroes-saw the premiere last night, great episode!
Office
Medium-awesome show
Friday Night Lights-it’s so much more than just football, great storylines and acting
Bionic Woman(haven’t seen it yet, really hope it’s good)
Lost
House
Absolutely love having a DVR, can’t imagine life without it!
Definitely House! and then there’s Dancing with the Stars (3 nights?)
Ghost Whisperer
Lost (how many more weeks???)
How I Met Your Mother
Without A Trace
Cold Case
Extreme Makeover Home Ed
I’m a little disappointed at how little my DVR actually holds – it keeps trying to erase things on me!!
My husband and I are psyched, too. Here I was thinking we were the only dorks left!
House
Law and Order SVU
Heroes
Brothers and Sisters
Lost
Prison Break (talk about hot men)
Ghost Hunter
Jon & Kate Plus 8
The Unit
Cane (intriguing, no?)
and so many more. Thank God for DVR: we have 2!
There are a lot of shows I like too but can’t commit to..
CSI
The Closer
Cold Case
Dancing with the Stars
Extreme Home Makeover
The Fall MUST SEE list for me?
Desparate Housewives
Kitchen Nightmares
The Biggest Loser
Survivor
I am a reality show addict, so I ahve must sees throughout the year not just fall 🙂
We have a TIVO and a dvr, and sometimes it’s still a struggle – why do they put all the good stuff on at the same time?? Torchwood is good fun, and Bionic Woman is so far, too.
I also like Chuck & Reaper for new, fun shows. Kind of like Alias-lite, fun & action-y, with humor.
What did we do before Tivo/dvr?! how did our parents manage to ever watch TV?! I can’t imagine – all the interruptions with bedtime, and having to watch all those commercials?
What’s bad is that I have to remind myself that we have Tivo so there is no reason for me to plant myself on the couch instead of going to the gym. It’ so hard though!
If you like House, also try Life, which comes on NBC right after Bionic Woman. It was awesome and the lead character was somewhat House-like, tortured but brilliant. I really liked it.
Well im the UK so many of those shows are a while away yet, but you should se my tivo list its about 5 times longer than thatone
