Just hot as fluckin hell here
Kooky weather, eh?
Sure, writing about the weather is usually as exciting as writing about what you had for lunch, but have you stepped outside lately? It’s going to be close to 100 here today, with plenty of humidity thrown in to provide that genuine thick, heavy air Midwestern experience. Meanwhile, less than a hundred miles away from me, several towns in Ohio, like Findlay, are still underwater and trying to bail out. With a small shift in the storm pattern, that could have been us.
Then there’s earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes in greater strength or frequency, as if Mother Earth is trying to shake us off like we’re fleas? I’m hoping for a quiet, pleasant fall, but the lead in doesn’t looking promising so far.
Anyone want to join me in writing about their day in haiku today? As mine shows, they don’t have to be good.
I used to write those in grade school all the time. 5, 7, 5, right?
Ok, here goes:
Flooding, Hailing, wind,
scared shitless but couldn’t scream
Kids can’t see my fear.
My night in a nutshell.
Ran into a spider web
Tried to shake off all the bugs
But they stick to me because of the heat
Not sure if that’s an official haiku, but damn it’s hot here! And the bugs are everywhere.
It’s Friday, thank God.
One more work day would surely
Make me go insane.
Hot hot hot hot hot
Sweat drip sweat drip sweat faint
What the hell … ICE CREAM!
Just think of it as writing about nature, which is the traditional root of haiku anyway.
And Canadians love talking about the weather, so you don’t need to apologize to us!
100?? Augh! Try to cool off 🙂
Oh my! Try to stay cool 🙂
it’s
5
7
5
right?
Yep, 5, 7, 5!

If writing about weather is as exciting as writing abouch lunch, then it must be very exciting! You know I love food.
A recent awesome lunch item was found at Benevolence. Cucumber, Tomato Sandwich with sprouts and cream cheese. You can recreate this at home as long as you use a good soft grainy bread and cut yourself 2 chucky slices.
Yeah, we always said that weather in Ohio was so unpredictable. If you didn’t like, just wait a minute. It’ll change.
Growing up in Columbus, I was always kind of bummed because the really severe weather rarely hit us. We never got the big snows or the crazy floods.
Then, when I got older, I hated the fact that we even got the little snows or the tiny rainstorms.
Right now… it’s 73 degrees. And it will be 73 in December. And sunny.
The sun mocks me.
I like your haiku
Makes me wish I could write one
Oh! I just did! Ha!
