Winter Has Finally Arrived!

(Note: My apologies to Bloglines readers for the ginormous pictures you’re about to see. They resize better in Blogger when they’re in the original size, rather than scaling them down first in Flickr, then in Blogger’s format.)

Yesterday morning, I got up at 6am and peeked out the window to see if the snow that was forecasted had begun. Nothing. So I went back to bed for a little bit.

Then, I woke up around 9:30am, looked outside, and was greeted with a winter wonderland of snow. Everything had a thick white blanket of snow on it, and the snow was still coming down heavy.

Seeing that this was the first significant snow of the season, I would have enjoyed spending the day taking Cordy out to play in the snow. But Sunday is when I must go to class for my Microbiology lab. So, while I spent the afternoon knee-deep in live bacteria (fun, eh?), Aaron and Cordy spent the afternoon ankle-deep in snow.

At least Aaron took pictures so I could see how the afternoon went:

So wait, what is this cold, white stuff again?

I’m usually the one behind the camera, so I was impressed with some of the pictures Aaron took, especially that last one with the glint of the freezing rain on her hair and coat. (I’m not saying he’s a bad photographer – he just doesn’t get as much practice as I do. And I’m certainly no professional!) Of course, there were some not so good shots as well, but hey, no one’s perfect.

I’m glad they got the chance to have some daddy-daughter fun time. It makes it all the more special to come home and see both of them happy and exhausted from playing together.

  1. I just want to know how you get to sleep until 9:30 when you have a toddler. I haven’t slept past 7:30 in four years.

  2. POW – I often get to sleep in on weekends. Aaron knows I need more sleep when I’m pregnant, and he’s one of those people who is usually up at dawn, so it’s not like he’s getting up early to be with Cordy when she wakes at 7:00am.

Just one of the benefits of having a husband who only needs 5 or so hours of sleep a night.

  3. Looks wonderful! I’m jealous of your snow and, no, I never thought I would ever say that. And the pictures of Cordy are great, Aaron did a really nice job, but that last one of the two of them is suitable for framing.

  4. Wasn’t the snow great! I did the same thing at 7am, but we HAD snow….how weird.

    Love the pictures!

  5. We haven’t had even a hint of snow here yet. I must not let my children see these pics! They miss it, but I must admit, I do not! 🙂

Cute cuddle pic of the husband and your beautiful daughter…

  6. Yay! We had our first bit of snow up here in southeastern Michigan this past week. It’s wierd, but I missed the cold and snow….never thought I would!

  7. How cute is that last picture of them together?? I’m glad he’s able to let you get some sleep and is also willing to do fun stuff with Cordy — he’s a keeper!

We’ve got a winter wonderland going ourselves here — though I’m not a big fan of winter, I’m glad to have some snow. It IS pretty, I must admit!

  8. Love the pictures…way to go Aaron! I wish we had snow here. It was an ice storm instead. We can’t walk, play, or drive in it. And I’ve fallen on the ice a grand total of 7 times so far, twice while carrying Squeaks.

  9. What a sweet faced little girl you have!

  10. Snow, Snow, Snow, how wonderful. Here in the west coast of Portugal it doesn’t snow, so I’m overwhelmed to see other people pictures in the snow. I hope I can take (someday) my kids to the only portuguese “Sierra” with snow.
    Love the pictures.

  11. those are great pictures! We have little snow, here.
