Quick Question: Would This Worry You?

Yesterday evening, as I was bringing Cordy in from the car, I noticed four young teens in street clothes (2 boys, 2 girls) walking out from the brush near the back of our house. Two were carrying pizza boxes (looked empty based on the way one boy was throwing his around), and two were carrying shotguns.

OK, maybe they were fancy BB guns (our BB guns in the 80’s never looked this real), but they were long and looked like shotguns to me. The teens walked down the length of our property to the street, and then walked down the street, guns propped on their shoulders, not saying anything to each other.

Did we move into the Wild West and not know it?

  1. as a past teen myself.. .and now I am the teacher of teens… YES… that would scare the living be-jesus out of me.

  2. Yes that would scare me half to death. Geez.

  3. And I thought my ‘hood was bad!

  4. Yeah, I had a similar situation a couple weeks ago. I didn’t want to examine them too closely to see if they were real guns, and I didn’t want to make eye contact, but yeah: I bought a lottery ticket after that. Gotta get some bucks to move elsewhere!

  5. Uh, I’d have called the police because stuff like this scares me. I’m known on my block as “the lady who calls the cops for really stupid things.”

Like the time my neighbors were fighting in their front lawn naked and the woman tried to hit the man with a baseball bat. Turns out they were drunk and stupid, but still, she could have hurt someone!

  6. They were probably going to do target practice on the pizza boxes but, I’d call the police anyway. It doesn’t hurt to report suspicious behavior. I think this qualifies.

  7. I would be worried, yes. But mostly because they were behind your house. With guns.

  8. Hmm. Yeah, I’d freak out. And I’d call the police. And then I’d freak out some more.

  9. ❉ pixie ❉ says

    Yikes!

  10. Mrs. Chicken says

yes, yes it would. Maybe calling the police and reporting it would be worthwhile?

Geez. Chambana and Columbus – hotbeds of crime. Who knew??

ps – my hubby was very pleased with the outcome of this weekend’s OSU game! 🙂

  11. Teens with guns? Definitely keep an eye out and if it happens again I would say you’re completely justified in calling the police.

Totally off topic – Go Bucks!! Watch out Michigan . . . Jim Tressel and OSU are unstoppable!

  12. It would freak me out a little. But then, I live next to gun-happy hillbillies who shoot first and ask questions later…

  13. I would have called the cops. I’m a worrywart. My boyfriend would’ve wanted to scare them a little and yell at them. But I do have to say they probably were bb guns because my little brothers both have a few and they do look VERY realistic nowadays.

  14. Teenagers do stupid things without thinking (I have one, I know). I hope you called the police. Better safe than sorry.

  15. ohmygod! I would have totally called the cops, right after locking my door and pulling down the blinds.
then i would not have slept for a week.

  16. Holy shit, that would scare the crap out of me.

  17. Shit! I hate to say it but I have been in a very similar situation and I was such a chicken I moved to a hotel for a few days. Well actually the threatened me and a whole bunch of other stuff … but still. S-c-a-r-y
