I’d just like to state for the record how damn cruel it is that I am required to keep a candy jar on my work desk at all times. Yes, it’s a rule – it makes our offices more “inviting” to students. It also tortures those on a diet.
It’s just sitting there, on the edge of the desk, looking at me. It’s a clear jar, too, so I can see all of the sugary-goodness tempting me. One tootsie roll is even partially unwrapped, exposing the divine chocolate underneath that thin paper wrapper. It’s like porn for dieters. I turned the jar so I wouldn’t see the Jolly Ranchers, but now I see one has snuck to the other side to beckon me.
Damn, I’m hungry.
mmmmmmm candy
hang in there
Life just sucks doesn’t it? Are you allowed to change it from lollies to something a little healthier like pretzels or one of those fruit and nut mixes??
Oh, I wish we were allowed to change it! The candy is purchased in bulk by the university, so we have to use the candy they give us.
I swear there’s a butterscotch in there sticking its tongue out at me.
Only one more hour to get through…
Can you buy some kind of candy you don’t like and put it in there, on the off chance they won’t notice that you’re not using official University-approved candy?
“swear there’s a butterscotch in there sticking its tongue out at me.”
lololololololol…funny :-p
Too funny! I was a receptionist and had to keep a candy dish on my desk. It was never filled with yucky candy, no. Hershey’s miniatures. Jolly ranchers. Sometimes Andes mint. I was pregnant too…so the will power was non-existant. So unfair. I say get yourself some gross candy and swap in out when no one is looking.
OMG a candy jar? That would kill me.
Currently, I am on a Chocolate Chip Diet, and any extra sugar would probably kill me. Which is not to say that would say no to the extra sugar, which is precisely the problem…
(How’re your cats?)
Er, Chocolate Chip COOKIE Diet.
Tho’ I would go for just the chocolate chips…
Mel – Oh, if we had Hershey’s miniatures, I’d be doomed for sure! There’s no resisting those!
2badladies – I’ve been known to just eat handfuls of chocolate chips…
Ugh…I don’t know if I could handle candy taunting me while I tried to diet…lol
The university gives you the candy you’re to use and requires you to have it on your desk?
I wonder what the diabetic people have to say about that policy. Maybe you can request sugar free candy?

May I have a candy? Please?
